Ski/Ride Kendall Mountain
Kendall Mountain is our town’s back yard ski hill with 240 feet of vertical drop, 4 groomed trails, multiple tree runs, a small terrain park, and 1 double chair lift! Kendall is owned and operated by the town. For now Kendall is a great place for kids to take their first runs or for a kick lap at lunchtime, but that may not be the case for long.
Silverton is investigating the possibility of expanded operations at Kendall with significantly expanding operations. The town hired consultants at SE Group to complete a feasibility study to potential expand the mountain with an additional 800 acres of terrain including glades, chutes, and bowls.
The proposed expansion would provide all levels of terrain with a significant backcountry experience and be similar in size to Monarch or Wolf Creek.
The town is continuing to explore the possibility of expanding the Kendall Mountain Recreation Area for both summer and winter operation supported by a $37,500 grant for Great Outdoors Colorado
If completed the expanded Kendall Mountain would complement the expert level only operations and Silverton Mountain.
Silverton Mountain features a single fixed-grip lift serving backcountry terrain that requires avalanche safety equipment and knowledge. The addition of beginner and moderate terrain at Kendall Mountain could help Silverton, CO become more of a winter ski destination.
